There’s never a wrong time to go for a manicure that simply mirrors the natural nail color of your fingernail. In the past I’ve actually walked into the salon with a classic French manicure but walked out with a French-less, your-nails-but-better manicure, all because I loved how it was done Well the base color looked by itself.
Selena Gomez found us a nail polish color that represents just that. She attended the second annual Academy Museum Gala on October 15, where her longtime manicurist, Tom Bachik, decorated Gomez’s nails with a translucent shade of blush that subtly accentuated her natural nail color.
Bachik revealed the exact nail polish color to his 550,000 Instagram followers. While showcasing Gomez’s short length on the grid, he described the manicure as simple, short and chic, revealing that Mia’s Secret Gelux Gel Nail Polish in the shade Rose Petal was behind this gorgeous, innate set.

Believe it or not, it’s difficult to find a polish that accurately mimics your own nail color. While Gomez has opted for a gel polish, there are also plenty of regular polishes that allow the color of your actual nails to show through. Two coats of pH7 Beauty nail polish in shade pH004 make for a neutral blush manicure, and if you’re looking for a rich beige with a high shine, check out this year’s Best of Beauty Award winner, OPI Infinite Shine in shade Stronger Spirit. For an even warmer and deeper hue, Orly’s Sepia Sunset shade creates the ultimate glossy caramel brown.
