Blushing glow
Makeup by Mario Blush Glow MoistureGlow Plumping Lip Serum ($22.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a medium sized pinky coral with a creamy, glossy finish.
- Semi-transparent to medium, easily buildable coverage
- Very softening, like a gel-cream feel – runny but with some “weight” without being heavy
- Prone to over-applying due to the softness (would be terrible to put one of these in a hot car/bag!)
- Short wearing (2 hours), moisturizing

formula overview
$22.00/0.08oz. – $275.00 per ounce
The formula is said to have a “serum texture” that “melts on the lips” that “plumps, nourishes and hydrates.” The formula is very soft and already melted before approaching the lips. It is therefore important to use a light hand when applying to avoid the product breaking against the rim of the tube or coming off in larger sections. It was also important to only click on the smallest amount as it was very easy to nick and smudge the product when replacing the lid.
The consistency was moderately emollient with decent glide, so it wasn’t a particularly long-lasting product (three to four hours), but it was comfortable to wear and didn’t tend to settle into my lip lines as one might have expected. The formula itself is very cooling and minty with a noticeable cooling plumping effect that lasts 45 to 60 minutes.
They had semi-transparent to semi-opaque opacity depending on the shade, although the brand described them as “transparent”, but their swatches looked more medium/semi-opaque.
I haven’t found them to hydrate over time, but it’s possible this is due to issues with some plumping products in the past. These had a strong minty odor but no discernible taste.
Note: Having had bad reactions to plumping products in the past, I only tested two of the seven shades to wear as previous experiences have resulted in allergic reactions that can take weeks to clear up. I bought these not knowing that they actually give a plumper effect and not the illusion of plumper lips from the glossy finish.
