  • Clarins Jade No. 4 (PiP, ).

formula overview

$27.00/0.09oz. – $300.00 per ounce

The formula is said to have a “creamy and light” texture that has a “shiny wet-look finish with a lasting shine.” It has a more transparent, medium coverage when quickly blended with a fingertip or a brush, but it can have full coverage applied with a second coat or applied directly with a brush (e.g. as an eyeliner).

The consistency was like a light mousse, not runny but easily spreadable without staining – even on the darkest, almost black shade. It dried out completely, although I had enough time to work one eye at a time without feeling like I had to run a blending marathon to do it. However, it was particularly stir-resistant, and it was important to apply thin, even coats, as applying too much product caused chipping (as with more than two coats).

I found the shades to be more pigmented to begin with, so it didn’t necessarily require a full second coat to achieve full coverage. My recommendation would be to apply the liquid eyeshadow to the lid/lash line with a flat synthetic brush for more coverage. I also liked giving it a second or two to “dry” beforehand. If you want to use them more as a touch of color (sheer to medium), apply a dab or two of product from the doe-foot applicator and use a fluffy, synthetic brush or fingertip to spread the work.

I noticed that the finish was smoother, shinier and more metallic in its sheen when worn at higher coverage, while visibly sparkling when spread and truly blended. It thereby made it more versatile in its finish.
