For her first Golden Globe Awards ceremony Jenna Ortega eschewed her usual dark hues for a smoky pink Gucci dress with head-to-toe pleats and a seductive eye makeup look that featured white eyeliner along her lower lash line.
The 80th annual Golden Globes kicked off the awards season on Jan. 10, proving just the right scenario for Ortega to flip the script and appear in the least Wednesday Addams-esque look yet. The actress competed with a Best Television Actress in a Musical or Comedy Series nomination for her performance Wednesday and the show itself received a nomination for Best Television Series in the Musical or Comedy category.
Actors’ beauty on the red carpet is often inspired by Hollywood stars of the past. In this case, makeup artist Vincent Oquendo revealed his touches of dramatic mascara along with the lightened waterline and white eyeshadow on her eyeliner wing were meant to channel Sophia Loren, the legendary Italian actress.
However, Ortega’s slightly tousled wolf cut was all her own. Hairstylist David Stanwell had the ends of her hair flared, her bangs parted down the middle and splayed to the sides, and most of the volume was at the crown. On her almond-shaped nails, white and beige retro swirls by nail artist Thuy Nguyen followed a different direction on each digit.
