My rating of

I have to say right away, this lipstick is gorgeous. The formula is perfectly creamy, they give the lips a soft, flattering shine and it’s such a comfortable finish.
The pigmentation is amazing. One swipe gives instant color payout and the colors I’ve seen so far are absolutely stunning. Of the ten shades I have, there isn’t one I don’t like.
Oasis 312 is a beautiful nude shade and actually reminds me a bit of Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk. And indeed, while we’re on the topic of Charlotte Tilbury, I definitely think there are similarities in formulation between the KISSING formula and this new Hourglass Unlocked Satin Creme Lipstick formula.
Both have that wonderful creaminess and smooth application with a satin matte finish. I feel like the hourglass pigment is a bit stronger and the packaging feels a bit more luxurious.
In terms of packaging, it is super glamorous and very beautiful to look at. Love the cut out Bunny H logo and magnetic closure. However the color label is on the cap and not the tube so you have to be very careful to put the correct cap back on the correct shade if you have opened more than one at a time.
That’s probably not the kind of problem you face in normal everyday use, but it just meant I had to be careful to match the cap to the color sticker on the tube. It’s just a swatching problem and not a real life problem!
My other comment on the packaging is that you can’t keep the lipsticks upright with the lid off and they sit at an angle, but again, that’s not a huge issue.
Back to the formula, which is absolutely lovely. I’ve been testing a couple of the shades for days (Oasis and Dove so far) and they both wear really well. It’s a brilliant, long-wearing formula, and the color doesn’t settle into fine lines, feathers, or spots.
The application is flawless. The color glides on so easily and delivers opaque coverage in a single swipe, which is super impressive. It’s really a good job by Hourglass. I can’t wait to wear more of the shades.
I also love that Hourglass found a credible alternative to Carmine for the red pigment. Carine is actually made from crushed bugs and is widely used in cosmetics. Red 0 is completely vegan and uses no carmine. I hope they share this technology with the wider beauty industry.
This is a super hyped lip to go on the market but I think it’s worth the hype!
Another hyped product that is more affordable and consistently sells out is the new Revlon. Read Revlon Super Lustrous Glass Shine Lipstick Review & Swatches.
