It took me far too long to get to this post, but it’s finally here and I’m so excited to share my swatches of the new Glossier No. 1 Pencil to share with you. Here’s what you need to know.
What is Glossier No. 1 pencil?

Glossier’s original eyeliner pencils were in the Glossier Play franchise (old blog post here), which has now been discontinued. The new Glossier No. 1 Pencil is a reinterpretation of these pencils with an improved formula.
- Designed to be easy to use even if you’re not an eyeliner pro
- Delivers rich and buildable color
- Formulated to give you a little playtime before it dries and sets
- Glides on the skin without pulling
- Once cured, the color is transfer and waterproof
- Formulated to last up to 12 hours
- Available in 10 shades – see pattern below
- Many shades are sold out, but supplies are promised HERE* soon. Current stock includes ink (black) and frames (brown) which I believe are staples.
- Dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested
- Suitable for contact lens wearers and sensitive eyes

My review of Glossier No. 1 pencil

I have to say I’m a big fan of these pens. They are really easy to use as the texture is soft enough to glide on the skin without tugging but firm enough to still draw a nice line.
I’m certainly no expert when it comes to eyeliner and the shape of my eye and covered lids don’t lend themselves easily to a wing, but I love a liner that’s a bit smudged. Also, I think the liner in the waterline is the quickest way to look like you’ve actually put on makeup!
When I swatched these I was so impressed with how well they dried and set in place. I tried smudging them with both my finger and a swipe (see video above) and they really didn’t budge. On the eyes, however, they are easily removed with a cleansing balm or oil. Fabulous.
They stay in action really well on the eyes too. I just have to be careful not to open my eyes too far before they touch down to avoid transfer to my hooded lids, which is always a risk with any makeup! All in all these are absolutely brilliant.
Many of the shades are currently sold out, but Glossier is promising a restock very soon, so keep checking back HERE*.
Where can you buy them
