Welcome to 2023! I hope you had a fun time welcoming in the new year however you choose to do it! It rained this year! I can’t imagine anyone standing in the rain for 12 hours in Times Square! No thanks! So let’s take a look at my nails. I’ve been wearing this manicure for two years, let’s see how it holds up 😂😂😂.
So my initial idea for this nail art was to take gold, silver and rose gold reflective nail polishes and do dots around my nails to make it mimic the New Year’s Eve ball in New York City. Well I did a nail and I won’t lie it looks like diseased skin lol. So I removed that nail and decided to do a three tone metallic gradient and top it with a reflective top coat. I actually planned to do this gradient on the outer nails and have the dotted nails on the inner nails.
For this simple look, I used the following colors:
- Base: Duri Cosmetics Bunny Slope, one layer
- Silver: Morgan Taylor Ice or No Dice
- Gold: Morgan Taylor plated in gold
- Rose gold: Morgan Taylor Copper Dream
- Silver Reflective Top Coat: KB Shimmer of Sequins
After doing the gradient, which was super quick because the metallics are so opaque, I added two thin coats of the reflective top coat. I liked that it didn’t distract from the colors because it was transparent enough. I was nervous it would cover the entire gradient and that would work for nothing. I thought about adding the reflective paint colors in dots over the gradient but then it was just one side and less more and I really liked the simple gradient.
Below are photos taken with flash to show the reflective nature. You can still see my gradient which I love!
Well I hope you enjoy the new year! I just took it off today so I was actually wearing last year’s manicure lol. 😂😂 My jokes are burning.
