formula overview

$8.00/0.33oz. – $24.24 per ounce

The formula is said to “fuse effortlessly” with a “natural, skin-like finish” that can be layered or applied to bare skin. The brand recommends applying product straight from the tube for heavier coverage, and picking up product with a brush for lighter coverage, although coverage “easily builds color to your heart’s content.”

They dry to a semi-set finish – slightly dewy, definitely “natural, skin-like” in appearance, but not overly sticky or really wet-looking. I haven’t found them to migrate or move around much, so the formula still lasts longer after seven to nine hours with minimal movement. They are easy to apply and so far have worn well over foundation. They are not transfer-proof, but transfer-proof; They don’t smear on an accidental touch, but aren’t fully locked.

Pigmentation varied a bit from shade to shade, but most shades were semi-opaque to full-opaque when applied straight from the tube in a “swipe” motion, although I don’t think replicating this on the cheeks is quite as easy as compared to my arm. I preferred to pick up the product with my fingertip, tap the apple of my cheek and spread upward and outward, and then use a clean fingertip to spread and soften the edges as needed.

I appreciated that even the deeper shades didn’t seem to “sink” into my pores and were just as easy to apply and blend as very light, more my skin but better (literally my skin!) shades. I would describe the formula as having a buildable semi-transparent to medium, with the possibility of semi-opaque coverage, but the formula is so slippery that even with heavier application it shows through noticeably.

The consistency was slightly softening, light and thin with good spreadability and movement; it didn’t lift base products but still worked well on bare skin. I haven’t experienced it lifting or staining on foundation over time, even when I applied foundation initially, but I would recommend (as with most cream-based cheek formulas!) to pair it with one less . matte foundation for best results (the dewy finish pairs well with a more skin-like base).

Oh the caps have the names of the products but the rest of the tube doesn’t. So if you opened more than one, be sure to put the correct lid back on!
