#1 Camila’s colorful mini clips
Earlier in the day, celebrity hairstylist Sarah Potempa gave The Voice Judge her first throwback hairstyle with all that ’90s vibe. The hair look featured a center parting and Camila’s long hair was straightened and styled in shiny loose bends. At her hairline, the hairstylist used small colorful clips to frame her hair and hold it back from her face. The look is reminiscent of the butterfly clips of the 90s and 00s, which were the hair accessory of the “it girls” back then. Recently, all things Y2K beauty have resurfaced as current trends for 2022. Hailey Bieber demonstrated the look with butterfly accessories on Tiktok earlier this year, and nostalgic trend queen Olivia Rodrigo wore her version of oversized butterfly clips to the 2022 Met Gala.
#2 Camila’s peekaboo braids with pink hair extensions
The styles didn’t stop there, however. For her appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Potempa once again swapped her hairstyle for a different nostalgic style that combines influences from the 1960s and 1990s. Potempa first styled the singer’s hair into a Brigitte Bardot-inspired filler, then added a creative touch to the look with a peekaboo braid with pink hair extensions underneath the layered and voluminous tresses. The Y2K hair strands with barbiecore vibes perfectly matched her checkered pink mini dress designed by Roz Zangardi and the pink soft glam look by makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez.
Whether she’s tapping into 1990’s pop star aesthetics, 1960’s French movies, or barbiecore girly beauty trends, we know for sure that Camila’s style will always delight and surprise us at every turn.
