What’s Up Nails is known for its stamping polishes and plates. I haven’t actually tried these products, but I really wanted to stamp something to honor the brand. I mentioned in my Swatch post that many colors from the Gust of Wind collection gave me autumn vibes. I originally wanted to do some nail art on a neutral base and then switched everything up at the last minute!
It’s been a really long time since I’ve done reverse stamping and I remember how much work it is but how beautiful the end result is. For some reason, with reverse stamping, I’m just the messiest person ever. But oh my god, this just looks so amazing.
Colors used:
- Base: Mauver and Shaker
- Plate: Beauty Big Bang XL – 064
- Stamping varnish: Zoya Debbie
- Leaves: Three of What’s Up Nails colors were used
First I started with 2 coats of What’s Up Nails Mauvers and Shakers. I let it dry for about 5 to 10 minutes so it wasn’t sticky.
While it was drying I started making my stamp art. I first stamped the leaves with Zoya Debbie which is a deep purple brown color. I didn’t want anything like black as it would be too harsh. Then I started filling in the leaves with the three colors from What’s Up Nails: Bear Trap, Lush Orangery and Tuscan Harvest. I chose these colors because they obviously reminded me of leaves. The great thing about reverse stamping is that filling in the graphic doesn’t have to be perfect.
While my base color was trying, my stamp images were also drying. Then I put a thin layer of latex border around my nail and sticky top coat over my nail. After 15 seconds I then stamped the image onto my nail, i.e. reverse stamping. I just love how that came out.
You can get all 6 polishes plus a magnet for $69.99 (that’s 15% off the full $82.75 value)! Otherwise, the colors are $12.75.
