Ever thought about using crystals and just don’t know where to start?

Adora Winquist, Founder of Soul Institute, author of book on alternative medicine Detox, nourish, activate: herbal and vibrational medicine for energy, mood and loveMeditation expert, modern-day alchemist, and expert in the fields of aromatherapy and crystals, offers the following advice on discovering the wonderful self-care rituals and healing benefits of crystal alchemy.

Using crystals for self care and healing

The ancient healing properties of crystals are a relatively untapped phenomenon of the natural world. The earth is made up of thousands of minerals with specific and powerful abilities to heal, balance and strengthen our existence. Their vibrational patterns receive, transmit and amplify energy and are found in myriad areas of modern and innovative technology, from automobiles to watches to communications devices. These rich treasures of nature can promote a harmonious energy for our home, workplace and personal health and well-being.

Placing crystals in your home, especially in places where you sleep, work, and relax, offers a safe and natural way to encourage the flow of positive energy while removing negative energies caused by stress, sadness, or illness .

Unlock the magic of the crystals

frequency

Crystals absorb movement and pressure from the environment and convert them into a type of energy that carries a specific frequency. This frequency depends on the nature of an individual crystal. However, each crystal generates a unique frequency that has been found to bring feelings of relief, joy and gratitude to the individual. Though considered pseudoscience by the scientific community, studies such as that conducted by brothers Pierre and Jack Curie in 1880 have found that applying pressure, such as that achieved by holding a crystal, can produce an electrical current . This electric current was felt by many to be a source of comfort and energy in times of need.

mentality

Given the existence of so many competing theories as to the effectiveness of crystal alchemy, there seems to be a consensus on both sides of the argument: the power of the mind is immutable. While the electrical current generated by holding a crystal is considered by many to be insufficient to bring about emotional changes in an individual, the belief that the energy causes change has shown positive results. Many argue that using a crystal as a focal point for one’s intentions can produce a shift in the chemistry of the body, bringing its frequency on par with the frequencies associated with gratitude and happiness.

Use and Care of Crystals

Crystals can be used in many ways to improve your mentality. Some options include placing a crystal like moonstone or selenite under your pillow to encourage restless sleep, hanging a pyrite crystal around your neck to energize you throughout the day, or holding a crystal like rose quartz, when you meditate to create feelings of love and contentment. Below is an example I do regularly:

Choose your crystal: What feeling are you looking for? relief? Love? Gratitude? Each crystal has a unique frequency that is designed to create a powerful emotion. Take a look at the crystals offered on Winquist’s website.

Clean your crystal: For the best results you must remove the previous energies in the crystal before use. These energies are often leftovers and appear after each meditation. Soak under cold water for 10 minutes to clean, or charge in the midday sun for an hour after rinsing with cold water.

Set your intent: Choose a focus to direct into your crystal. It can be something like “I let go of everything that no longer serves me” or “I gain the strength and courage to live my potential”.

Start meditating: Now it’s time to start the centering process. First, relax your breathing and breathe in slowly and deeply. Second, as you begin to relax, imagine imbibing the energy generated by your chosen crystal. Imagine it flowing through your body, filling every cell with boundless energy. When you finally feel enveloped in the energy of the crystal, imagine your intention becoming a reality with the help of the crystal’s energy. Once you achieve this balance, you can slowly open your eyes and take care to breathe slowly and deeply to maintain your peaceful state. After taking some time to reflect on what you have experienced, allow yourself to be thankful for this expansion of new energy and purpose. It is the first step in the wondrous journey of cultivating inner harmony.
