We all want to look our best, but sometimes we just don’t have the time (or energy) to do a full makeup look. That’s where these quick and easy makeup hacks come in! In just a few simple steps, you can change your look from I just rolled out of bed to polished and put together. Whether you’re late for work or just don’t feel like putting your makeup on, these hacks will save the day.
1. Get rid of puffy eyes with tea bags
If you’ve ever been up all night or had an early morning, you know that tired eyes can be a real pain. Luckily, there’s a quick and easy way to get rid of those pesky bags. Simply place two tea bags (black or green tea will do) over your eyes for 5-10 minutes. The caffeine in tea constricts blood vessels and reduces swelling.
2. Get DIY eyelash extensions
We get it. Putting yourself in a position where you have to spend $100 or more to get your eyelash extensions done isn’t the most compelling thought of all. We can see why other people feel similarly about this process even though there are cheaper options these days! The idea of someone gluing things to your eye might seem a little intense.
Luckily, there’s a much easier (and less expensive) way to get long, voluminous lashes without resorting to drastic measures: DIY lash extensions!
With just a few simple supplies, you can make your own professional DIY eyelash extensions at home in under an hour. And the best? You can adjust the length, thickness, and curl to get your desired look.
3. Nurture flawless skin with rose water
Rose water is incredibly versatile and can be used as a toner or refreshing spritz throughout the day. To keep your skin looking fresh and radiant, simply spritz some rosewater on your face after cleansing or whenever you need a pick-me-up during the day. Rosewater’s natural anti-inflammatory properties help calm and soothe irritated skin, and its mild astringent properties gently remove excess oil or makeup.
4. Create a DIY lip stain with Crayon
Lip crayons are great because they give you long-lasting color without being too dry or feeling heavy on your lips. However, if you don’t have a lip stain handy, don’t worry! You can easily create your own with a crayon and some petroleum jelly. Simply melt the crayon (you can do this in the microwave or over a water bath) and mix with petroleum jelly until you reach your desired shade. Then apply it to your lips like any other lip color.
5. Set your makeup with a spray bottle
Don’t have a fixing spray? No problem! Simply fill an empty spray bottle with water and mist your face after applying makeup. Applying water to your face before makeup will help the foundation apply more evenly and last all day without smudging or creasing.
However, this may not work with all types of makeup, so it’s best to test this on a small area of your face before applying all over your face.
6. Get rid of oily skin with blotting paper
If you have oily skin, blotting papers are a must have in your purse. Whenever your skin starts to look shiny or feels greasy, simply press a piece of blotting paper onto the affected area and voila! Instant matte skin.
7. Fix clumps of mascara with a toothbrush
Clumpy mascara is the worst — it makes your lashes look spidery and makes applying more mascara pointless (since it just clumps back up). To fix this problem, simply run an old toothbrush through wet mascara to comb out any clumps before applying it to your lashes. This hack works like a charm every time!
8th . Squeeze your eyes with a spoon
Tightlining is when you line the inner edge of your lower lash line to make your lashes look fuller and more defined — and it’s actually really easy! The easiest way to tighten is to use the back of a spoon instead of an eyeliner brush (although you can use both). Simply hold the spoon against the lower lash line and apply the liner in small strokes to the inner corner of the eye. Voila! You’ve just streamlined like a pro.
9. Conceal dark circles with Orange Corrector
Dark circles happen to the best of us, but there’s no reason to suffer from them. If you don’t have concealer handy, try an orange corrector instead. Apply under the eyes with a beauty blender or brush, then finish off with your usual concealer shade. The orange corrector neutralizes any darkness and helps your concealer work smoothly.
