5 things to consider before getting a hair weave

Women desire long and beautiful hair, but that is not always possible as not everyone is blessed with this hair type. Luckily, you don’t have to wait for your natural hair to grow long because you can look gorgeous with a hair braid. Hair braids complement your hair by adding volume and length to enhance your look. In addition, these protective hairstyles help protect and grow your natural hair.

Human hair weaves are most preferred because they can be dyed, bleached, curled, or straightened like natural hair. They’re also durable when moisturized and cared for properly, but expensive. With many options on the market, there are things you should consider before getting your hair braided. They include:

  1. The costs

It is important to consider your budget before getting your hair braided. Some hair weaves are more expensive than others because of the materials used and the amount of time and labor that goes into repairing them. Cheap hair weaves aren’t always the best; they can irritate your scalp, cause breakage, and damage your natural hair. Some cheap weaves are made from natural hair mixed with synthetic and animal hair, so be vigilant when having your hair weaved.

Also, be prepared to pay a little more if you need a quality hair weave. Quality hair weaving doesn’t come cheap; Because of this, African Americans spend around $1.1 billion annually on hair and hair extensions alone. If you are overwhelmed, you can ask your stylist about the cost and durability of this hair braid.

Another consideration to keep in mind is your hair type. This is because the type of hair weave and hair care products you choose will depend on your hair type. The different hair types include straight, wavy, curly and curly hair.

But how do you determine your hair type? You have straight hair if your hair is straight from root to tip. Straight hair is usually silky and soft with high oil secretion. Curly hair is usually S-patterned and cannot be straightened. In contrast, wavy hair falls between straight and curly hair. Wavy hair is curly at the ends but not completely curly. On the other hand, greasy hair usually has Z patterns. It looks frizzy, has tight curls and is prone to breakage.

  • The different types of hair weaving

Before attempting to braid your hair, you should familiarize yourself with the different types available. This will help you identify which type suits the texture of your hair. The main binding styles include sewn-in, glued, drawstring, and interlocking bindings.

  • sew-in fabric are designed from real and synthetic hair and are available in different textures such as curly, straight or wavy. This weave gives a natural look and is easy to maintain. It is therefore suitable for physically active people.
  • adhesive tissue Use special glue to attach the extensions to your hair. They are easy to install and do not require professional help.
  • Drawstring weaves are attached to your hair unlike other weaves which are attached to the scalp. It’s a good option for people who fear damaging their hair because they don’t use any harmful material during attachment. They are fastened with hair combs and elastic drawstrings.
  • Interlocking fabrics are weaves that blend into your natural hair. With this fabric, it’s hard for people to tell if you’re wearing a fabric or not.

The most common mistake people make is wearing a fabric for more than six weeks without changing it. They don’t understand when to change it, leading to situations that can cause hair loss. Like every part of your body, your scalp needs to breathe. Therefore, before investing in a weave, be prepared to change it out after six weeks to give your scalp some downtime before putting on a new one. Think about it, you don’t want to lose your hair if you stick with the same weave style for a long period of time.

Aside from knowing when to change it out, the hair braid also requires regular maintenance to keep it looking fresh just like your natural hair. The grooming routine to apply will depend on the hair weave you are given. Since everyone has a hair care routine for their natural hair, the weave you receive should complement your normal hair care routine. In many cases, a quality shampoo and conditioner is all you need to properly care for your tissues.

Conclusion

Once you have considered the above factors, you can get your hair weaved. However, remember to consult with your stylist about your choice for more insight. Your stylist will advise you accordingly as the journey does not end with setting the fabrics; You also need to take care of your hair braiding.
